ความท้าทายด้านการศึกษาในศตวรรษที่ 21 ในการเตรียมนักเรียนให้พร้อมกับสังคมโลกที่มีการเปลี่ยนแปลงรวดเร็วและกว้างขวาง สิ่งที่สำคัญกว่าองค์ความรู้ก็คือทักษะในการเรียนรู้ ทักษะในการทำงาน และทักษะการดำรงชีวิต ผู้เกี่ยวข้องกับการศึกษาทุกฝ่ายทั้งนักเรียน ครู ผู้บริหาร ผู้ปกครอง ชุมชนและผู้มีส่วนได้เสียทุกฝ่าย (Stakeholders) จึงต้องมีความตื่นตัวและเตรียมพร้อมในการจัดการเรียนรู้ เพื่อพัฒนานักเรียนเป็นมนุษย์ที่สมบูรณ์ มีทักษะสำหรับการออกไปดำรงชีวิตในโลกในศตวรรษที่ 21
